The Astrud Gilberto/Stan Getz rendition of “Girl from Ipanema” is very dear to me. This version is not so, but I’ve been itching to include SOMETHING from The Homosexuals’ catalogue here.
Let it be known that I am *not* a fan of The Homosexuals per se, but am completely endeared by their numerous side projects, particularly Vic Serf & the Villains and Amos & Sara.
Tesco Bombers released just this 45. The strength of this single lies in “Break the Ice at Parties”. Sara’s vocals are as charming as ever here, though I much prefer as a whole her work with Homosexuals’ bassist Jim Welton (aka L. Voag, Amos) on the three Amos & Sara recordings.
Highly recommended blogload: a good number of Homosexuals side project recordings (all out of print) on club amigos
