FLOWER TRAVELLIN’ BAND “BLACK SABBATH”
originally recorded by Black Sabbath (Black Sabbath, 1970)
Appears on Anywhere (Phillips, 1970)
R.I.P. Joe Yamanaka
Flower Travellin’ Band were, for all intents and purposes, Japan’s answer to Black Sabbath, though their style was slightly more discursive. FTB enjoyed a resurgence a few years ago with the reissue of SATORI, their second album (an all around banger, though I prefer 1972’s MADE IN JAPAN). ANYWHERE is mostly comprised of covers, including versions of “House of the Rising Sun” and “21st Century Schizoid Man” (!!!).
